On arrival, discover that its a very small kampung with some budget chalet for visitor. Not much of amenities but they do have 2 or 3 provision shop and a food stall.

There are lots of local picnic on the beach and I do envy them. Imagine packing up their truck/car with picnic stuff and drive all the way to the beach itself and setup the area and enjoy. This is something where you do not find it in Singapore.

They do have chalet for rent to people who are not that adventurous enough. Found this Chalet is pack with people and seem one of the better one there.

We also explore the other chalet and this one looked establish but found that there are too many mosquito there. I killed 4 mosquitoes and miss another 2 within a 10minutes stroll.

Believe that these goose belong to the chalet. They roam around the premises freely and they didn't attack us stranger. Normally goose are territorial animals and people used to keep them to guard their property. They will attack any stranger and their bite is unforgettable.

We took a slow walk down the beach, we found some improvement activities and I believe that maybe in another year or so, this place will be pack with tourist.

Found this place is very peaceful and there isn't anything much to offer. However, as there are sign that the village is doing some upgrading project (building watch tower, bathing facilities, etc) to attract more visitor, it may become the next cherating village.

There is one setback which is the seawater, it's brownish and seem very dirty. The wave is too huge which make swimming very dangerous.

Edited:
Feedback from some member in MCF, seem like I visited this place at the wrong time (Dec), recommended to be between Apr to Sept where you can find calm sea and clear water.

On the 1st May, there will be some sort of celebration on that beach and it attach lots of local tourist.

Tribute to Aunt Cecilia Lim Teck Hin

Her journey
Cecilia's Favourite hymn

From the first day that she know about her final stage lung cancer till the day our Lord Jesus call her home, there is not a single complain but only praises for the Lord.

Personally I do not know this aunt-in-law very well and we hardly have the opportunity to sit down and talk. The only time we see each other was either during CNY, Ah Poh birthday or some relative wedding (which include mine)

For God work in a mysterious way that allow me to have the honor to accompany her, together with my bro-in-law for her radiation in TTSH.

In the short 2 1/2 weeks, I thank God for letting me getting to know her more even though we do not have any common topic to share. Even with out any verbal communication, her action, her thoughtfulness, her thankfulness, her faith in God, her gentle smile, her comforting words, her trust, her love for the family, her forgiving heart and lots others, touches my soul more then anything else.

I can still remember that she used to talk about her favorite Apolo Chicken Masala, Beauty world 'zhar xian mian' and all the good food that she had tried and wanted us to enjoy it too.

She was so sweet that she even asked her church mate to pack the Apolo Chicken Masala for us to bring back home for dinner.

She always tell us to enjoy our dinner after we send her home from the radiation treatment, telling us that even thou that she can’t join us physically, her spirit will still always be with us.

She even looks forward to have a good meal together with my wife, my bro-in-law (knowing that my bro-in-law is a good cook) and myself after she recover from her illness…

Today is her Sea burial (14 Nov 2007) and I am really sad to see her leave but knowing that she is now happily with Lord Jesus, it really bring peace to my heart.

Her final resting place.

Trip to Kuala Terenggang

Finally, manage to find some time off to do something I like.

First pit stop is my favourite bak kut teh store along E3 towards Mersing.

Still pack with people even on a weekday morning!

I stayed in Legend Resort in Cherating for RM188/night with breakfast

The room

The Pool

Drive down to Chukai for my dinner and manage to park my car right in front of the restaurant ... just like in the movie :p

One of the well known dish in that restaurant.

Some other stuffs that we ordered

Total damaged RM120 ... kind of expensive

And this is the place where we had our dinner

Verdict: Seem like the standard drop alot and we suspect that this place is getting popular and somehow with the price, its no longer worth the $$ anymore

The next day, we got up early to catch the sunrise

After the hearty hotel breakfast, we head out to Kuala Terenggang going by route T13 -> 124 -> E14 = BIG MISTAKE!!! Should have travel on Highway 3

Arrived around 1:30pm and saw most mosque are packed with people going there for their prayer. I was really amazed by the way they park their car, converting a 3 way lane into 2 way parking lot and some even park on the center road diverter! Drove around town and discover 90% of the shop are all closed and even the KFC and Pizza hut are closed till 3pm. Asked one of the shop owner where we can have our lunch and he directed us to this food center aka hawker center. N05 19.912' E103 08.012'

Ordered my wanton mee that come with chicken feet (which i dare not eat) at RM3! Very big potion but didnt manage to take any picture as I was too hungry then and totally forgot about it :p

After lunch, saw 'The Store' nearby and of course, we do what normal Singaporean will do ... SHOPPING!

When we came out from the store, discover that we are very near to the entrance of China Town N05 19.928' E103 07.957. It does look like the 70's Singapore and so we decided to take a walk down memory lane.

Found this friendly sweet little girl is selling nice soya bean milk, tau huay and peanut cookies just under the sign. CHEAP and GOOD!

First building that got our attention, the Chinese Temple. Without this, China Town will not be complete.

Took a short walk further down to discover some of the nicely colored building with their own history

Stayed in the town till around 5pm and decided to head back to our resort. While on the way back (this time using Highway 3), we pass by this area selling rice cooked in bamboo. Ordered 2 bamboo stick with beef meat @ RM10.

Bamboo stick rice cooking ... smell really nice and the rice is soft and juicy too

When we arrived at Cherating, its about dinner time and we had our dinner along one of the roadside malay stall N04 10.983' E103 25.719'

We ordered Tom Yam (highly recommended!) Ikan Bakar (BBQ fish with chilies), mix veggy and fried chicken meat. (Lucky still manage to take some pix half way into dinner :p)

Verdict: The Tom Yam soup is a must when you visit this stall, the ingredient used is generous! The prawns used for both the tomyam and the mix veggy were fresh, the fish was juicy and its not very spicy, however, the fried chicken is abit too salty and dry. Total cost abt RM60 and to me, its super value for $$ =))

After the dinner, we took a walk at the beach and we found something walking...

Had our final breakfast in the hotel cafe

and caught some nice flower outside the cafe

After a short rest and off we go, heading back to Singapore. We made a pit stop in Endau for a quick lunch at one of the Kopitiam N02 39.200' E103 37.246' The fried kway tiao is a must try dish @ RM3.

After lunch, we decided to explore part of the small town

Dont think you can find these type of toilet in Singapore =p

After the short visit, we decided to move on and we made another stop in Mersing. The main reason why we stopover ... FOOD!! Lots and lots of it ...

Satar

Drum stick @ an unbelievable price of RM1.50!!

food and food and more food

Ok, I have to admit ... these picture are not clear, no color and there are no life in it ... reason is that I am using my K800i to take all these pix.

Maybe when I strick rich on the TOTO, i will invest more on a DSLR camera =p

For this trip, I am really surpise that there are so many things i yet to discover, maybe in future with more time, I will try to explore more into the eastern part of Malaysia
