Senoko Fishery Port

A visit to the place where the we get all our seafood from

There are 2 fishery ports in Singapore operated by the AVA, Senoko Fishery port and Jurong Fishery Port

As I am staying in the north and had been passing Senoko Fishery port at Attap Vally Road very often, so decided to drop by and check out the place and also to find out how they operate the fishery port. Also sourcing some cheap seafood for our Chinese New Year dinner =)

From the AVA site, it is know that Senoko Fishing port is a replacement for Punggol Fishing Port and it began its operation in 1997 with an area of 3.24 hectares. It also serves as a home base for the local fishing fleet of 20 off-shore and 49 in-shore fishing vessels


Getting into the premises

You have to drive to the first security post to exchange for entry pass with your ID

After getting your pass, drive further down with your cash card ready for the carpark, per entry is $2.70

Inside the premises

There are 25 AVA-licensed fish merchants occupied 36 market lots of 40 sq metres each, operating daily from 0200 hrs to 0600 hrs, except on Monday mornings when the market is closed


You can find all sort of seafood in the wholesale market.





You can't find it fresher elsewhere.

Some Tips if you wish to visit the fishery port
1) Gather order with your friends and relatives as there will be MOQ (minimum order quantity) if you want to buy seafood in the fishery port. Prepare a shopping list so that you will not be lost moving around in the market.

2) Do not feel shy to ask for the price as you may get a better bargain from the guy next stall.

3) Prepare some plastic container if you plan to buy some seafood. Why? Cus it will be wet or if you dont mind your boot be stain with 'seafood' water and your car smell like a fishing boat.

4) As the fishery port is also a wet market, your footwear will be soaked with 'fishy' smell water. So, if you do not have those rubber mat in your car, place lots of cardboard so that when you reach home, you can throw away those dirty cardboard or else you have to change your car mat or;

4) Bring along some water so that you can wash your feet before getting into the car

5) Bring cash, they do not accept any form of plastic

6) Last but not least, sleep early, as the saying goes, early bird catches the worm

Second Leg at Donsak and towards Samui

Do note that when you're nearing the town Wat Nok, do keep a look out for the road sign that direct you to the Donsak Ferry Terminal.

I took the Raja Ferry service and cost 650 bhat 2-ways for the driver plus the vehicle and 200 bhat 2-ways for every passenger. You can purchase the ticket at the entrance to the terminal (somewhere near the main road) or at the terminal itself. Ferry will leave every hour and when the ferry is full, you have to wait for the next ferry

As we were in Thailand, we decided to try out their local dish instead of international menu. We ordered tom yam soup, steamed sour fish, green curry prawn and stir fried beef.

Verdit: Good value for $$!! Die die must try

MK is a must go place for me whenever I'm in Thailand. It's a steamboat restaurant chain that serves good green noodle and roasted duck

Things you dont see in our road

In one of the town, we are not allow to go straight into this area. We need to make a huge detour to get around this place and proceed with the road ... Anybody have any idea where this place?

When you are in Penang, how can you miss this??

Verdict: Still as good ... worth to kill your healthy body

Don't ask me where I stay in Penang cus the service I receive from them SUCKS big time

Final thought

Do not let our media discourage you from having a great driveaway holiday as driving up north is relatively easy and safe if you practice some basic common sense.

Also, don't under utilise the ability of your ride. A factory fitted car with proper servicing carried out accordingly to the manufacturer recommandation, will not only bring you to places and also lots of story telling for your grandkid. FYI, the car I drove is already 3yrs old =)
